Data Mining
Data mining is a special process used to search electronic stored information (ESI). The results of the data mining process will help direct future actions in the discovery process prior to litigation. Generally data mining refers to searching large volumes of data for patterns and irregularities in the data. The patterns and irregularities found, in turn, trigger yet more detailed searches within the data.
Data Triage Technologies is able to image and to search every kind of electronic device within which data is stored. These days this not only includes the hard drives of laptops, desktops, and larger servers and databases, but also portable memory devices and handhelds such as mobile phones and MP3 players. An image is a bit-by-bit copy that copies even the unallocated spaces left behind when files are erased and the theoretically empty “slack” space at the end of a file. Therefore, a search on an image often gives vastly different results than what is revealed, for example, by using a particular operating system’s search function.
Data Triage Technologies has wide knowledge of electronic media, file systems, and databases.
